UI Developer

Terms: Permanent Location: Cheltenham, Gloucestershire Reports to: Head of Development Salary: £35 – £55k per annum

CORVID provides advanced and innovative cyber security protection services across the wider Ultra Electronics Group, using sophisticated means to detect and manage technical security incidents. 

Job purpose

CORVID is seeking a passionate and competent UI Developer with at least 5 years' professional experience, to deliver exceptional designs for a variety of products and services. The UI Developer will work closely with developers, marketing and the management team to help shape attractive and intuitive user experiences. The work is varied, and includes both web and application user interfaces for a variety of cyber security services.

Required skills:

  • A portfolio that covers creative and practical UI design for both web and app products.
  • Ability to write accessible, standards-compliant HTML and CSS.
  • Ability to provide proactive, creative input into the direction of the product, with a focus on usability and accessibility.
  • Ability to communicate proficiently with cross-functional teams on all aspects of the design process.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • The ability to create pixel-perfect designs, assets and style guides.
  • An eye for selecting attractive and captivating stock imagery.
  • Demonstrable experience in creating usable web and email templates.
  • Strong visual design skills including layout, hierarchy, colour, iconography and typography.
  • Expertise in using Balsamiq, Axure or Adobe XD to create wireframes and high-fidelity prototypes.
  • Expertise in using front-end frameworks, including Bootstrap.
  • Experience of user-centric design techniques.
  • Previous experience managing a design team.
  • An analytical thinker who enjoys problem-solving.

Advantageous:

  • An understanding of version control.
  • Experience working on a codebase.
  • An understanding of a programming language (Javascript/Coffeescript/Python etc.)
  • An interest in cyber security.
  • Familiarity with HubSpot.

  • A keen interest in emerging technologies.
  • A positive attitude and the desire to add value.
  • Ability to follow a fast, iterative, agile development approach.
  • A passion for keeping up with the latest design and website trends.
